The Melissa & Doug Catch & Count Magnetic Fishing Rod Set is a fishing game with working mechanics and genuine learning embedded in the play. Ten wooden magnetic fish are numbered 1-10 and patterned for matching, sorting and counting activities - so catching fish also means counting them, sorting them by pattern, and eventually playing the included spinner game. Two wooden fishing rods each have a working wind-up reel that clicks as the line retracts, making the fishing experience satisfying in a way that a simple string-on-a-rod never achieves.
The set is made from FSC-certified wood, and the game spinner provides a structured way to play once the free-catch stage has been explored. Suitable for ages 3 and up.

There are 10 magnetic wooden fish, numbered 1-10. Each fish is also patterned for matching and sorting - so play can focus on counting, number recognition or pattern matching depending on the child's age and interest.
Each wooden fishing rod has a magnetic tip on the end of the line that connects to the magnetic fish. The working wind-up reel retracts the line when the handle is turned. The reel action is the detail that makes this set significantly more engaging than a basic magnet-on-string design.
