7 Ways To Make Learning Fun

Learning at home can be both exciting and entertaining for kids. There are a few ways that you can do that. To keep up with the activities, you can write it down on a post-it-note and paste it somewhere visible. Focus on one activity for the week and check how your kid responds to learning things by the end of each week.

Try these fun learning activities for kids you can do at home.

1. Colour scavenger hunt

Scavenger hunt for kids is the most entertaining and engaging activity. Just grab a paper lunch bag or just a paper on a clipboard and draw small squares onto the front of the bag of each colour. You can go for a walk outdoors or play in your own backyard and have your little one put treasures in the bag that identify with each colour. It's fun and encourages children to be active!

2. Counting skills

Counting activities are a lot of fun! You can make counting numbers playful and enjoyable for your child. Using objects that they can touch and see is an interactive way of teaching them numbers. Kids learn best when they play. Playing with toys they can count is a great activity for entertaining kids and helps them understand what each number means.Your child can learn how to count easily by adding these numbers and math toys to your collection!

Even baking together is a great way to practice number counting!

3. Fine motor skills

Developing a child's fine motor skills is important for building muscle abilities, strengthening fingers, improving hand-eye coordination and promoting colour recognition. Fine motor skills are enhanced by the right type of toys and activities related to the use of a child's hands. There are many activities that help children develop these skills, such as:

  • playing with blocks
  • placing stickers on a paper
  • tracing a letter or number
  • drawing
  • fitting puzzles
  • colouring
  • opening and closing a zipper
  • squeezing play dough
  • cutting with scissors
  • clipping pieces of paper
  • Arts & Craft is a creative way to help kids practice and improve their fine motor skills.

4. Enrich their minds with music

Music plays an important role in child development. Exposing your child to music helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Explore the science of sound with these fun music activities for kids:

  • making you own music instruments
  • playing musical games
  • creating music trivia
  • introducing them to a musical toy
  • playing 'name that tune'
  • creating your own set of "sound jars"

5. Learning their name

When a child has learned how to write and recognize their name, this is a huge milestone for them. The simplest way is probably to help them trace over the dotted lines that form each of the letters in their name. You can also spell one letter at a time and get them to copy the letter underneath. You just need to make the process fun and in a playful way! Make it colourful with alphabet magnets, textas, crayons or cut outs!

6. Reading hacks

You can make reading fun and enjoyable for your little one. Start by picking a book that catches your child's attention. Make reading more fun by bringing the story to life. Read stories out loud and act it out. Encourage your child's imagination, it allows him to explore and enhance his creativity.

7. Gardening

Children learn from growing and caring for plants. A garden can be an interactive playground for kids where they can experience planting, digging, and growing their own food. Gardening fosters a scientific curiosity in your child and allows them to get involved in their environment. It can even encourage them to try new foods if they have grown it themselves!
