Cocoonababy is no longer available in Australia. Red Castle - the French manufacturer behind the Cocoonababy Nest - ended their Australian distribution arrangement in early 2026. Bloom & Grow, who distributed Cocoonababy here, no longer carries the range. There is currently no authorised Australian retailer for new Cocoonababy stock, and we have no remaining inventory.
If you already own a Cocoonababy, it remains safe to use according to Red Castle's guidelines - see our usage and safety notes below. If you were planning to buy one, we've pulled together the closest alternatives we currently stock to help you find the right fit for your newborn.
Red Castle has not made an official public statement about why Australian distribution ended. Based on what we know through our supplier, it was a commercial distribution decision - Red Castle consolidated their international distribution arrangements in late 2025 and early 2026, and Australia was not included in the new arrangements. The product itself has not been recalled and is not considered unsafe when used correctly. Red Castle continues to sell the Cocoonababy Nest in Europe and other markets.
The Cocoonababy Nest was an ergonomic infant positioner designed by Red Castle in France. Developed in consultation with midwives and neonatal specialists, it was shaped to gently cradle newborns in a semi-inclined, foetal-position - the same curled posture babies hold in the womb. The soft foam insert and removable cotton cover created a snug, contained sleeping environment designed to help unsettled or reflux-prone newborns feel calm and secure.
The Cocoonababy was designed for babies from birth to approximately 4 months, or up to around 9kg. It came with a range of fitted sheet accessories and an optional Cocoonacover blanket. It was one of the most talked-about newborn sleep products in Australia for over a decade.
We can't replace the Cocoonababy exactly - it was a unique product. But these are the products we stock that come closest to meeting the needs Cocoonababy was designed for.
The ergoCocoon is an Australian-designed swaddle bag that wraps baby snugly with arms free or tucked, creating a womb-like contained feeling for newborns. It's not a positional nest like the Cocoonababy, but for parents who used the Cocoonababy primarily for its settling and containment effect, the ergoCocoon is the closest swaddle alternative we stock. Available in multiple colours. View ergoPouch ergoCocoon
For parents who used the Cocoonababy primarily for supervised daytime resting - especially outdoors - the Beaba Breezynest offers a portable, ventilated baby resting space with UV protection. Different product, but it fills the "contained, comfortable daytime rest spot" use case well. View Beaba Breezynest
For older babies and toddlers (not newborns), the SlumberPod is a blackout privacy pod that creates a consistent, familiar sleep environment while travelling. Different use case from the Cocoonababy, but useful for families who need a portable sleep solution as baby grows. View SlumberPod

Yes - if you already own a Cocoonababy Nest in good condition, it remains safe to use according to Red Castle's guidelines: supervised use only (while a caregiver is awake and present), baby placed on their back, and discontinued once baby shows signs of rolling. The product has not been recalled. Always follow Red Nose Australia's safe sleep guidelines for your baby's overnight sleep environment.
The ergoPouch ergoCocoon Swaddle Bag is the closest alternative we stock - it creates a snug, contained feeling for newborns similar to the settling effect of the Cocoonababy. For daytime outdoor use, the Beaba Breezynest Solar Tent is worth considering. We don't have a product that replicates the Cocoonababy Nest exactly - it was a unique positional newborn cocoon - but these products address the most common reasons parents chose the Cocoonababy.
We no longer stock Cocoonababy fitted sheets or accessories - all of our inventory has sold through. Red Castle's international website (red-castle.com) may still list accessories, but Australian shipping availability will depend on their current shipping arrangements. Some secondhand Cocoonababy accessories may be available through Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree.
The Cocoonababy Nest is designed for babies from birth up to approximately 4 months, or around 9kg. The most important signal to stop is when your baby begins showing signs of rolling - typically from 3 months onwards. Once a baby can roll, the semi-inclined nest position is no longer safe, as they could roll face-down without being able to reposition themselves.
